Project Overview
In July 2008, the Montgomery County Planning Board extended The Land Company’s amended preliminary plan of subdivision for this approximately six acre assemblage of ground on the east side of Connecticut Avenue in Chevy Chase, Maryland, bordered by Manor Road to the north and Chevy Chase Lake Drive to the south. The site, which is currently owned in its entirety by The Land Company, consists mainly of the existing Chevy Chase Lake East Shopping Center (anchored by Chevy Chase Supermarket) and the adjacent parcel occupied by T.W. Perry’s building supplies facility. The Land Company currently is entitled to redevelop the site with approximately 250,000 square feet of retail and office space served by both surface and underground parking.
The Chevy Chase Land Company continues to cooperate with MTA to permit this to be analyzed in conjunction with the overall Purple Line review processes. Any redevelopment of the site other than that which is currently approved under existing zoning (which does not incorporate or embrace mass transit at this location) will be evaluated by the Land Company in conjunction with the current comprehensive planning and zoning effort initiated by the Montgomery County Planning Board for the Chevy Chase Lake Sector Plan area (in response to the State and local approval of this area for a Purple Line transit station).
