Kathleen (Kate) Walsh Carr is President and Market Executive of Cardinal Bank/Washington. Prior to joining Cardinal Bank in 2005, Carr was President and CEO of The Adams National Bank, and a member of the Board of Directors for the Abigail National Bancorp. Carr has more than 35 years of experience in the commercial lending and private banking arenas, commencing her career at the National Bank of Washington in 1973, while also spending significant years with NationsBank and its predecessor, Bank of America.
Carr is a distinguished DC banker with an active record of service in the Washington business and civic community. Her business expertise and volunteer efforts have benefited many worthwhile community partnerships and local organizations. Carr provides civic leadership as a member of the Board for the District of Columbia Chamber of Commerce, just recently completing a one-year term of service as chairman of the DC Chamber; received an appointment by Mayor Anthony Williams to serve on the Local, Small and Disadvantaged Business Opportunity Task Force; and serves as Chairman of the Neighborhood Economic Development Corporation.
Sharing her time and resources with myriad other organizations, Carr was an honoree of the 2008 Washington Business Journal Women Who Mean Business. Carr serves as a member of the Board of Washington Trustees for the Federal City Council; serves on the Boards of Directors for Royco, Inc., The Chevy Chase Land Company, and the Metropolitan Washington Board of Trade. She is a member of the Investment Committee of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington, DC and the Advisory Board of So Others Might Eat, Inc. Carr recently completed a three-year term as a Director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond where she served on the Audit Committee.
A native Washingtonian, Carr lives in Washington, DC with her husband, Keith. They have five children.
