Chevy Chase, Maryland is surrounded
by the highest income suburban areas in Maryland (e.g. Chevy Chase, Bethesda
and Potomac) and the affluent upper northwest neighborhoods of Washington,
D.C. (e.g. Spring Valley, Cleveland Park and Chevy Chase, D.C.).
The Chevy Chase Center is located at the nexus of the retail shopping
corridor on Wisconsin Avenue located at the Maryland/Washington, D.C.
line. This five block shopping corridor includes many of the most prominent

Mazza Gallerie has completed a significant renovation which should
further enhance the retail vitality of the Wisconsin Avenue corridor
in Chevy Chase. Mazza has relocated Filene's Basement to a below grade
area and now has attracted a Saks Men's Store and Ann Taylor to complement
its high end anchor, Neiman Marcus. Further, Mazza has added a 7-screen
General Cinema premier theatre which will include two of their updated "premier" screens
and a restaurant.
The existing Chevy Chase Center contains approximately 64,000 square
feet of neighborhood retail use. Anchored by Giant Food,and Clyde's Restaurant,
the Center also includes a CVS/Pharmacy, Blockbuster Video, two regional
banks and other smaller retail including a bakery and coffee bar. Chevy
Chase Center boasts one of the highest sales per square foot figures
for a neighborhood center in the nation with average 1998 gross sales
of $750 per square foot. |
