Chevy Chase, Maryland is surrounded by the highest income suburban areas in Maryland (e.g. Chevy Chase, Bethesda and Potomac) and the affluent upper northwest neighborhoods of Washington, D.C. (e.g. Spring Valley, Cleveland Park and Chevy Chase, D.C.).

The Chevy Chase Center is located at the nexus of the retail shopping corridor on Wisconsin Avenue located at the Maryland/Washington, D.C. line. This five block shopping corridor includes many of the most prominent retailers. Selected retailers with Wisconsin Avenue exposure include (all within two blocks of the Chevy Chase Center):

  • Saks Fifth Avenue (independent store) and Saks Men's Store (Mazza Gallerie)
  • Neiman Marcus (Mazza Gallerie anchor)
  • Tiffany & Co. (independent store)
  • Cartier (independent store)
  • Saks Jandel (independent store)
  • Georgette Klinger (Chevy Chase Pavilion)
  • Versace (independent store)
  • Brooks Brothers (independent store)
  • Banana Republic/Gap (independent store)
  • Eddie Bauer (independent store)
  • Borders (independent store)
  • Cheesecake Factory (Chevy Chase Pavilion)

Mazza Gallerie has completed a significant renovation which should further enhance the retail vitality of the Wisconsin Avenue corridor in Chevy Chase. Mazza has relocated Filene's Basement to a below grade area and now has attracted a Saks Men's Store and Ann Taylor to complement its high end anchor, Neiman Marcus. Further, Mazza has added a 7-screen General Cinema premier theatre which will include two of their updated "premier" screens and a restaurant.

The existing Chevy Chase Center contains approximately 64,000 square feet of neighborhood retail use. Anchored by Giant Food, and Clyde's Restaurant, the Center also includes a CVS/Pharmacy, Blockbuster Video, two regional banks and other smaller retail including a bakery and coffee bar. Chevy Chase Center boasts one of the highest sales per square foot figures for a neighborhood center in the nation with average 1998 gross sales of $750 per square foot.
